First birthday celebrations for gallery

02nd Nov 2021

When ‘Our Little Gallery’ opened their doors twelve months ago, the owners realised a dream of sharing their love of natural fibres with the wider community. Whilst their first year has not all been smooth sailing, Louise, John and Sarah say that their little business has exceeded expectations and they are glad to have taken the plunge.
Among the challenges that they had to overcome was an extended street closure which severely impacted foot traffic past their business, followed by COVID-19 lockdowns which saw out of town travellers dwindle to almost zero.
On the plus side, they have been buoyed by the support of locals, many of whom are repeat customers. While many initially stopped in for a look around, it is pleasing to see that many have returned to make purchases at a later date.
They also saw a steady flow of visitors from outside the area prior to the lockdowns and are hoping to welcome more now that restrictions have eased.
Sarah said that what is most pleasing is that everyone was interested in their ethos of sustainability and their use of natural fibres.
“Our customers tell us that they love seeing the quality of our work and seeing that everything is hand made,” she said. “People appreciate having somewhere local to buy good quality and sustainable items and we really enjoy showcasing our work and adding new things to the collection.
“The road closure dragged on which wasn’t ideal and along with the lockdown it was challenging, but we have bounced back from both and are looking forward to the future.”
To mark their first birthday, “Our Little Gallery” is opening its doors this Friday, November 5th from 4pm to 7pm to celebrate. They would like everyone to come along and help them celebrate their first year of trading.
Refreshments will be served and they will have specials throughout the gallery and a special table of Christmas gift ideas.
