08th Sep 2020

Hunter New England Health has appointed Peter Williams as General Manager of the Tablelands Sector. Mr Williams will be responsible for leading and managing the overall planning, development and implementation of services in the Tablelands Sector, working closely with local Health Service Managers at Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell, Tenterfield, Uralla, Guyra, Bundarra, Tingha, Ashford and Emmaville to oversee efficient, effective and timely delivery of healthcare to the community.
Rural and Regional Health Services executive director Susan Heyman said Mr Williams is an experienced health professional with a proven track record in management, as well as hands-on clinical work.
Prior to accepting his new role he was general manager of the Hunter Valley Sector, based in Muswellbrook. Mr Williams is also a former general manager of Drug and Alcohol Services for Hunter New England Health, and worked with operational managers across the Local Health District to commission new services to target alcohol and substance abuse in the community.
“Peter brings with him plenty of energy, experience and enthusiasm which will further enhance the strength of service delivery across the region,” Ms Heyman said.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Peter on his appointment. The community’s health services remain in good hands under his leadership.”
Ms Heyman has also extended her thanks to Cathryn Jones, Operations Manager, Tablelands Sector, who has filled the role as acting general manager for more than 12 months while recruitment was completed.
“Cathryn has been an invaluable powerhouse for the sector, keeping services working smoothly, even during a pandemic that’s fundamentally changed the way our frontline services deliver care,” Ms Heyman said.
“I’m pleased all her hard work will be carried on by Peter, who has a strong track-record for working collaboratively with his colleagues and the community to achieve solid outcomes for grassroots healthcare.”
