Local students have played a leading role in PLC Armidale’s outstanding term of success in the Creative and Performing Arts.
Head Prefect Molly Chard, from Glen Innes, helped lead the College’s award-winning performances across music and dance during a busy Term 2 that included success at the Tamworth Choral Eisteddfod, Tamworth Dance Eisteddfod, Armidale Eisteddfod and the NSW Shakespeare Carnival.
Molly performed with the PLC Senior Choir, which finished runner-up in the prestigious Tamworth Choral Championship, and the Stage 6 A Cappella Ensemble, which claimed equal first place at the Armidale Eisteddfod with its performance of Super Trouper. She also placed third in the Year 12 Music Composition section.
Guyra boarders Darcie Campbell (Year 7) and Catie Furphy (Year 8), together with Glen Innes boarders Flic Adams (Year 7), Willow Betts (Year 7) and Ella Teinaki (Year 9), were also part of the successful Senior Dance Ensemble, which placed third at the Tamworth Dance Eisteddfod. Flic also performed with the Senior Choir.
Head of Creative and Performing Arts Jo Wysel said the College’s achievements reflected students’ willingness to embrace creativity and challenge.
“As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, I have been reflecting on just how much our students have achieved,” she said.
Principal Nicola Taylor praised Molly’s leadership and the contribution of all students involved.
“Molly is a wonderful ambassador for both PLC Armidale and the Glen Innes community,” she said.
“She leads by example, embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm, dedication and generosity. We are incredibly proud of all she has achieved.”
