Impressive performances at school and region

Guyra Central School has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and athletic excellence this term, with impressive performances from both primary and secondary students at recent regional competitions.
At the Primary Zone Cross Country Carnival held in Armidale, Ashton Hutton secured an impressive second place in the eleven years Boys Cross Country, Indigo-Grace Atkin finished fifth in the twelve years and over category, and Anna Fletcher came sixth in the ten years Girls Cross Country.
These three talented students have qualified to compete at the upcoming North West Cross Country event in Coolah later this term. The entire school community is cheering them on and wishing them the best of luck.
On Friday May 8th, Guyra Central hosted its annual Primary Athletics Carnival, which saw fantastic participation from all students and some fierce competition throughout the day.
The event highlighted the talents and determination of the school’s young athletes. Special congratulations to the Age Champions who excelled in their categories: Junior Girl Champions Anna Fletcher and Isla Lenehan, Junior Boy Champion Ned Grills, eleven Years Girl Champion Ariella Galindo, eleven Years Boy Champion Ashton Hutton, Senior Girl Champion Indigo Atkin, and Senior Boy Champion Hugh Kliendienst.
Thursday May 14th saw the highly anticipated Secondary Athletics Carnival, where Guyra Central’s secondary students once again showcased their athletic skills and team spirit. The carnival featured fierce competition, personal bests, and exceptional school pride.
Remarkable record-breaking performances were achieved by Meagan Beard, who set a new benchmark in the fifteen years Shot Put event; Charlie Ward, who dominated the seventeen years and above Girls Shot Put and Javelin events; Manatu Ashman in the fourteen years Girls Discus; and LaBron Joyce in the thirteen years Boys High Jump, all setting new school records.
Age champions were celebrated across all categories: Aoife Collin (12yrs Girls), Jessica Fletcher (13yrs Girls), Latai ‘Ale (14yrs Girls), Rachael Jackson (15yrs Girls), Makayla Galindo (16yrs Girls), Charlie Ward (17+ yrs Girls), Jacob Jones (12yrs Boys), LaBron Joyce (13yrs Boys), Fletcher Gardiner (14yrs Boys), Tyler Bourke (15yrs Boys), Edward Collins (16yrs Boys), and Aidan Brown (17+ yrs Boys).
The staff at Guyra Central School are incredibly proud of all students who participated. and looks forward to more competitions ahead.
