Guyra will mark Australia Day 2026 with a program of community events spread across Sunday January 25th and Monday January 26th, offering residents and visitors a chance to come together to celebrate, reflect and recognise local achievement.
Celebrations will begin on Sunday, January 25th with the Australia Day Dinner and Awards, to be held at the Guyra Bowling and Recreation Club from 6.30pm. Tickets are $30 and are available from GALA. The evening will feature the presentation of Australia Day awards and provide an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of local individuals and groups.
On Monday, January 26th, activities will start early with the Ben Lomond Australia Day Breakfast from 7am at the Ben Lomond War Memorial Hall, a popular tradition for the wider district.
A morning tea will follow at 9.30am at the Guyra Historical Museum, offering a relaxed setting for residents to gather and enjoy the occasion.
The day’s official proceedings will conclude with a flag raising ceremony at 11am as part of the Lamb and Potato Festival celebrations, marking Australia Day in a fittingly community-focused way.
As well as the formal celebrations, entry to the Guyra Swimming Pool will be free on Australia Day, giving locals and visitors the chance to cool off and enjoy the facilities
Residents are encouraged to attend one or more of the events and take part in Guyra’s Australia Day celebrations, which continue to highlight the town’s strong sense of community and local pride.
The Australia Day Ambassador for the region - chef and community advocate David Bitton - will attend, sharing his story of resilience and community spirit as part of the proceedings.
