NAIDOC Week celebrations bring joy for youngsters

15th Jul 2025

Low-key but meaningful celebrations took place at the Guyra Neighbourhood Centre on Tuesday, July 8th, in honour of NAIDOC Week 2025.
The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead.
Guyra Preschool joined in the festivities, bringing joyful energy as children engaged in a variety of cultural and creative activities. Highlights included art and craft, storytelling, music, movement games, and a shared morning tea of fruit cups and juice.
Neighbourhood Centre coordinator Sarah Hunt said it was wonderful to see the families and the Guyra Preschool children enjoying NAIDOC celebrations in such a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
“I really enjoyed the Acknowledgement of Country from the youngest members of our community, which was unique and the best I have witnessed,” Sarah said.
“Special thanks to Mrs Nellie Blair for all her hard work and inspiration, her contributions continue to shape meaningful cultural engagement for our community.”
The event reinforced the importance of early education in cultural understanding and respect, laying strong foundations for reconciliation through connection and celebration.
