Guyra based MLC the Hon Aileen MacDonald OAM has been appointed to Portfolio Committee No.4 ‘Regional NSW’.
The Committee examines Regional NSW, Agriculture, Western NSW, Small Business, Lands and Property, Multiculturalism and Sport.
“I am thrilled to be on this committee because my passion has always been for Northern and Regional NSW, and small business,” Ms MacDonald said.
“I have owned and operated a small business in the New England. I understand the challenges of building a business, paying wages of local staff, and dealing with the high costs of country-based enterprises.” she said.
“I would do anything to support the economic prosperity of our region. When we get small business right, we keep our towns growing and provide opportunities for families,” Ms MacDonald said.
“Our problems are unique. We constantly battle remoteness, the climate and bureaucracy. We’ve had to contend with challenges from natural disasters, skills shortages, Covid-19 constraints, and an explosion of introduced pests including fire-ants and feral pigs.”
Ms MacDonald said the Minns Labor Government was too Sydney-centric and out of touch with issues like these which affect those in the regions and those with small businesses
