Have a fun family day out

19th Jan 2021

If you are missing your yearly fix of lamb and potato there will be a chance to catch up on some of the usual festivities this Saturday January 23rd. The Lamb and Potato Festival committee were forced to cancel the annual 12 day festival due to COVID-19 restrictions.
President Steve Mepham said that even though they had to cancel the festival they still wanted to give the community something to celebrate. This weekend they are holding a family fun day at the Showground that will condense many of the regular Lamb and Potato happenings into a single day.
“This event is for the community who have always supported us and will have much more of a local flavour,” Steve said. “We have more than thirty stalls confirmed and there will be plenty to choose from with foodie stalls, and a variety of goods for sale.”
There will also be static displays and information stalls. There is still some room for community groups who want to participate – prospective stall holders can ring Mark Werts 0407 583 170.
Entertainment will include jumping castles, face painting and other activities for kids from FUNTASTIC Family Fun. There will also be a full line up of musicians on stage playing for the whole day.
The Guyra District Automotive Club are hosting a giant car club display in the ring, with around 120 cars participating.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said that with so many community events cancelled due to COVID-19, it is great to see the Lamb and Potato Festival going ahead.
“I want to recognise the festival committee for the work it has done to pull a COVID safe event together. I encourage the community to get behind the fun and support the many local vendors in attendance.”
Entry will be via the main gate and you will need to register your details, preferably through using the Service NSW app. COVID marshalls will be on hand to ensure things run smoothly.
The day will kick off from around 9am and finish at around 4pm. Entry will be by gold coin donation at the gate. For more details phone Steve Mepham on 0404 485 585.
