Nominations open to recognise our region’s unsung heroes

17th Feb 2026

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan is encouraging residents to put forward the names of remarkable volunteers for the 2026 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
Launched in 2007 by The Centre for Volunteering, the awards recognise the six million Australians who give their time to support organisations and communities.
Mr Moylan said the Northern Tablelands is rich with people who selflessly contribute to community life and deserve formal recognition.
“Recognising and celebrating our volunteers is incredibly important because, without them, many organisations, charities, events and sporting clubs couldn’t operate,” he said.
“Although they don’t do it for recognition, these awards provide an opportunity to thank and acknowledge how valuable they are.”
Award categories include Young Volunteer, Adult Volunteer, Senior Volunteer, Volunteer Team, Emergency Volunteer, Volunteer Leader and Not-for-profit Voluntary Governance.
Nominations can be submitted for Recognition Only, with recipients receiving a certificate and invitation to a regional ceremony, or for Judging, where nominees may progress to regional and state honours.
Nominations opened on 11 February and close at 5pm on Friday, 29 May 2026. Submissions must be completed online via The Centre for Volunteering website, with nominee consent required. Volunteers and volunteer managers cannot nominate themselves.
