Guyra will be buzzing with creativity during TroutFest, with a great line-up of art workshops and activities planned for the October long weekend.
The workshops will be held at the Lamb and Potato Pavilion on the New England Highway in conjunction with the GuyrARTists Art Competition and Exhibition.
Entries are now being accepted for the exhibition, with just three weeks until the opening. A wide range of creative categories is available, including junior photography and other junior sections. A new section this year is specifically for First Nations artists, and GuyrARTists is looking forward to seeing the entries.
Entry forms are available by emailing Lynne Chapman at lynne2chapman@gmail.com, calling into Our Little Gallery in Bradley Street or visiting the Guyra TroutFest website.
School children will also demonstrate their skills in the beautiful art of calligraphy.
The exhibition will be supported by the CWA Day Branch with a cake stall, while raffles featuring art prizes and some quirky surprises will add to the fun.
Workshops
Friday, October 2 – Paint and Sip
Jypsi Hooper will lead a fun Paint and Sip session from 4pm to 6pm. All materials are supplied and no experience is necessary. Participants can unleash their creativity and take home their own artwork.

Saturday, October 3 – Storytelling and Painting for Kids
Children of all ages and abilities are invited to a free storytelling and painting morning from 10am to noon while the markets are running.
Acclaimed Aboriginal artist Lloyd Hornsby from Glen Innes will host the session, guiding participants in painting a two-metre community canvas inspired by Aboriginal art and stories.
It promises to be a special morning of creativity, culture, storytelling and connection.
Sunday, October 4 – Stick Weaving
Louise Pearson will introduce participants to the art of stick or branch weaving from 10am to noon.
Everything is provided, including materials, tuition and support. Participants can immerse themselves in fibre and create a unique one-off piece.
The workshop costs $25 per person and bookings are essential. Phone 0428 206 970 or call into Our Little Gallery in Bradley Street.
