TroutFest returns for the October Long Weekend

Guyra is preparing to celebrate the opening of the trout fishing season with Guyra TroutFest 2026, running from Thursday 1st October to Monday 5th October under the banner “Our Town, Our Trout, Your Festival.”
Now in its tenth year, the festival continues to showcase the best of the New England region through fishing, markets, live music, art, food and family-friendly activities. While some long-running features such as the children’s fishing clinics and tomato farm tours have been scaled back this year, organisers have expanded the arts program and maintained a packed program of community events across the long weekend.
Saturday 3rd October will be the centrepiece of the festival, with activity spread across two sites along Bradley Street. Markets will operate from 9am to 2pm in the NAB and Vinnies car parks, featuring local produce, handmade goods, community stalls and regional businesses.
Adding plenty of colour and atmosphere to the day will be the Big Day Trout live music program, kicking off from 9am in the NAB car park. The event will feature a full day of live, local and original music, creating a vibrant soundtrack for festival-goers as they explore the markets, street food vendors and community displays. Children will also receive a free Big Day Trout and Guyra TroutFest colouring book, created exclusively for this year’s festival.
A produce swap will also run at the Neighbourhood Centre from 10am to 2pm, while a school art competition will be displayed in shopfront windows throughout Bradley Street.
Other attractions across the five-day festival include the Vintage Car Display at Burgess’ Garage, the Rotary Book Fair, an art exhibition at the Lamb and Potato Pavilion, workshops for adults and children, and open days at the Guyra Historical Museum.
The John Wilcox Trout Classic, organised by the Guyra Anglers Club, is expected to proceed as usual alongside the opening weekend of the trout season, attracting anglers from across the region.
The full festival program is currently being finalised and will be released shortly. Organisers are hoping for fine spring weather and another successful long weekend celebrating everything that makes Guyra unique.
