Strong support for bull sales despite tough season

Angus bull sales across the district have recorded solid results, despite a challenging year for the cattle industry, with drought conditions and reduced cattle numbers affecting producers. All four recent sales were conducted by Elders Stud Stock NSW in conjuntion with Elders Guyra/Armidale.
Glenavon Angus held its sale on August 3, selling all 107 bulls offered. The sale topped at $24,000 for Lot 50, Glenavon Patriarch V048, purchased by David Grills Partnership, Aberfoyle, NSW. The average price was $10,422.
Richard and Prue Post thanked everyone involved in the sale and those who supported Glenavon locally and from further afield.
The following day, Bald Blair Angus offered 89 bulls, with 68 selling to a top of $24,000. Lot 22, Bald Blair V282, was purchased by David Grills Partnership, with the sale averaging $8,831.
Sam and Kirsty White thanked everyone who invested in Bald Blair genetics and supported this year’s sale.
On August 5, Eastern Plains Angus sold 46 of the 64 bulls offered, with two bulls reaching $18,000.
Lot 6, Eastern Plains Vernan V32, was purchased by James Grazing, Wandoan, while Lot 39, Eastern Plains Veteran V22, was purchased by Uralla Partnership, Coonamble. The sale average was $7,695.
Andrew and Sally White said they were pleased with the
support, particularly from local buyers.
The final sale was held by Gates Performance Genetics at Uralla on August 10, with 38 of 41 bulls sold.
The sale topped at $17,000 for Lot 4, Gates V114, purchased by Gostwyck Partners, Uralla. The average was $8,000.
Across the four sales, 361 bulls were offered and 259 sold, with the bulls sold averaging approximately $9,100.
The results demonstrate continued demand for Angus genetics across the Northern Tablelands, with buyers travelling from across NSW and Queensland to secure bulls, despite the challenging conditions facing the cattle industry.
