Big Day Trout makes a splash at Guyra TroutFest

07th Oct 2025

The inaugural Big Day Trout Music Festival hit the right note in Guyra on the weekend, held for the first time in conjunction with TroutFest.
Put together on a shoestring budget with the help of some generous donations, the event drew an estimated 500 people throughout the day, offering a lively mix of music.
The diverse line-up featured acts spanning every genre - from jazz to hard rock and even classical. Local and regional performers including Bitz of Buzz, The Warts, Jhana Allen, Soberphobia, and Euphemystics were all warmly received by the crowd.
Organisers Neil McLeod and Mark Gordon, both with strong musical backgrounds, came up with the idea and approached the TroutFest committee for support. They were assisted by James Warren in bringing the concept to life.
Mark said they were pleased with the turnout and community support.
“For a first-time event, it was a great success - a good weekend for music and the arts,” he said.
“Thank you to the local community and the Guyra Bowling Club for their support, and a special mention to Gladys Wilson for her enthusiasm and encouragement.”
Plans are already underway for a bigger event next year, with the team looking to secure grant funding to build on this year’s success.
