Agriculture Students Shine at Prime Lamb Show

Agriculture students from Guyra Central School recently impressed at the Northern Schools Prime Lamb Show, held in Armidale on Tuesday, May 5th.
The annual event, hosted this year by Armidale Secondary College, attracted competitors from 14 schools across the New England and North West regions.
Guyra Central School students achieved strong results across several categories. Rachael Jackson placed third in Lamb Leading, while Lachlan Cruickshank secured third place in Junior Judging Stage 4.
The school’s success continued in Junior Judging Stage 6, with Lacey Cruickshank earning second place and Shilla Remkonkon taking third.
Guyra Central School teams also performed well in the Pen of 3 Lambs competition, finishing fifth and sixth overall.
Agricultural Studies teacher Miss Grace Collins said the day provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with others who share a passion for agriculture and livestock showing.
“Our students thoroughly enjoyed meeting peers from across the region and challenging themselves in a competitive, supportive environment,” she said.
School staff Gwyn and Ian Pearson were also recognised for their commitment to preparing students for the competition and supporting them throughout the event.
Organisers and teachers agreed the Prime Lamb Show offered students an invaluable experience, helping to build practical skills, confidence and friendships. The school congratulated all participants for representing Guyra Central School with enthusiasm and pride.
