Guyra author shares personal journey in debut memoir

Railene Turner-Rose will launch her book in Guyra on November 8
27th Oct 2026

A bag of liquorice bullets sparked a moment of self-reflection that eventually led Guyra-based author Railene Turner-Rose to write her debut book, Day One Again.
Described as a raw and honest memoir, the book explores food, grief, perfectionism and the hidden struggles that can sit behind an outward appearance of success.
Written as a journal over six months, Day One Again follows Railene through daily diary entries, weekly reflections and monthly reckonings as she examines her relationship with food and the deeper emotions behind her habits.
Rather than focusing on diets or meal plans, the book delves into the underlying issues influencing behaviour, while exploring identity, music, grief and the pressure to keep performing for others.
It also examines what happens when people stop trying to hold everything together and begin questioning who they really are beneath the expectations they have placed on themselves.
“I wrote it for myself,” Railene said. “But the more honest I got, the more I realised this isn’t just my story. It’s the story of every woman who’s held everything together on the outside while quietly falling apart on the inside.”
Combining memoir, journal and personal reflection, the book draws on Railene’s own experiences to offer an unfiltered account of confronting difficult questions, recognising personal patterns and finding a way forward.
Published by Healing House Publishing, Day One Again is available now.
Railene will officially launch the book at The Blind Chef, 126 Bradley Street, Guyra, on Sunday, November 8, at 6pm.
The free launch event will include a reading and conversation with the author, along with gourmet nibbles and drinks. Signed copies of the book will also be available.
Community members are invited to attend, meet Railene and hear the story behind her first book, which began with a seemingly ordinary moment and developed into a deeper exploration of personal growth, grief and the courage to begin again.
