13th May 2025

The 2025 Career Expo was held at Guyra Central School on Tuesday May 13th. It brought students and employers together for a morning of career exploration.
Organised by New England Community College (NECC), the event welcomed students from Year 5 through to Year 12, including attendees from Bald Blair and Black Mountain Schools who joined the expo for the first time.
The expo provided a unique opportunity for students to engage directly with local businesses and service providers, gaining insights into various career pathways and industries.
NECC expressed its sincere appreciation to the many organisations that participated, including representatives from government, education, emergency services, employment agencies, and local enterprises.
Businesses showcased a wide range of employment opportunities and community services, offering students a valuable look into their potential futures.
Participants included Armidale Regional Council, Armidale Police, Guyra Preschool, VRA Guyra, Armidale JobLink, New England RFS, Community Power Agency, Kolora/McLean Care, OCTEC Armidale, BusyAtWork, MEGT, Headspace, Oorala Aboriginal Centre, NSW National Parks and Wildlife, UNE Future Students, Aimbig Employment, Uniplan, MLA, Guyra Fire Brigade, and Southern New England Landcare.
Special thanks were extended to the team at Guyra Central School for their support in delivering the event, and to the Hospitality and Food Technology students for preparing a delicious morning tea for guests and attendees. The contributions of the GALA and NECC teams, along with work experience students Kiearnna and Shearnna, were also warmly acknowledged.
“The overwhelming response from participating organisations reflects the strength and generosity of our community,” said a spokesperson for NECC.
“This event not only informed but truly inspired our local students.”
