Shearers pitch in, in time of need

13th Feb 2024

Recently our family experienced the tragic loss of my brother, Kayne Wells (a familiar face in many Guyra shearing sheds).
During the 10 day search to find closure, my wife and I were in need of some crossbred lambs to be shorn to prevent flystrike.
One phone call to our good friend and shearing contractor, Jeremy Newberry late on a Friday night, led to the entire Guyra Silvershears committee arriving the next day to lend a helping hand.
Our single stand shearing shed was soon converted into a 4 stand shed with about 20 very generous and considerate volunteers. Needless to say, there was wool flying everywhere and our 130 lambs were shorn in no time. Such a wonderful example of the Guyra community standing together in unity to help those in need.
Words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for the genuine kindness shown to us. The generosity shown by these amazing blokes gave our family great comfort to know how much love and support we have.
We are truly blessed to have such beautiful people in our lives. Thank you to each and every one of you who turned up to help us out.
Many thanks,
Jake & Casey Chard
