The final days of autumn have delivered a taste of what is to come, with a wintry blast arriving across the region on Monday and Tuesday.
Emergency services were kept busy on Monday evening as the cold front passed through, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
Wind gusts of up to 90km were recorded, causing power outages as trees were brought down across power lines. The Guyra SES received multiple reports of trees down across the entire district with multiple roads blocked. Trampolines, garbage bins, and garden sheds also became airborne.
Crews from Essential Energy, Armidale Regional Council, SES. local RFS brigades and the RMS were kept busy overnight with the clean-up.
Up to 350 Guyra homes were still without power on Tuesday morning. Cold weather is expected to continue for the rest of the week with single-digit maximums and below zero overnight temperatures forecast.
