Strong results at Finlayson Cup Athletics Carnival

Students from Bald Blair Public School and Black Mountain Public School joined other small schools at the annual Finlayson Cup Athletics Carnival hosted by Chandler Public School on Wednesday, May 6th.
The day featured a range of track and field events including age races, relays, long jump, shot put, discus and high jump, giving students the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities while competing in a fun and supportive environment.
Bald Blair Public School enjoyed an especially successful carnival, proudly taking home the marching competition trophy for the second consecutive year. Students were praised for their teamwork, school spirit and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
Several Bald Blair students were recognised for their outstanding individual performances:
• Grace Schaefer – Senior Girl Champion
• Claudia Evans – Senior Girl Runner-Up
• Dustin Turnham – 11 Year Boy Champion
• Caleb Kopp – 11 Year Boy Runner-Up
• Fergus McFarlane – Junior Boy Champion
• Banjo McFarlane – Sub-Junior Boy Champion
• Ebonee Cruickshank – Sub-Junior Girl Champion
Relieving Principal Mrs Elizabeth Opie congratulated students on their efforts and thanked Chandler Public School for organising another successful carnival.
Students from Black Mountain Public School also enjoyed the opportunity to compete alongside neighbouring schools and were commended for their sporting achievements and positive attitude throughout the day.
Relieving Principal Mrs Justine Eddy thanked Chandler Public School for hosting the event and providing students with a fantastic athletics experience.
Both schools are already looking forward to returning for next year’s Finlayson Cup carnival.
