Peak Laundromat is getting a dynamic makeover, with Gold Coast couple Clint and Sharna McKay this week taking ownership of the Bradley Street facility. They have an ambitious plan to turn the everyday chore location into a vibrant, family-friendly community space.
Since it first opened in early 2024, the laundromat has offered essential washing facilities, but the new owners saw untapped potential to offer much more.
Clint said that they had been actively searching for the right laundromat opportunity before selecting Guyra. While they will manage operations remotely between their other business investments, their commitment to the maintaining this essential service remains hands-on, starting with opening up the space. The overhaul addresses practical capacity alongside entertainment.
To support residents lacking heavy-duty machinery at home, the existing line-up of 10kg washing machines and 10kg dryers will be bolstered by two massive 20kg washer/dryer stacks, designed specifically to handle bulky items like blankets and winter bedding.
Beyond the machinery, the focus is firmly on keeping families entertained. The layout is being updated to feature arcade games, claw machines, and vending machines stocked with both snacks and essential laundry products, giving families a fun place to relax while waiting for a cycle to finish.
In addition to serving everyday customers, the pair are reaching out to local entrepreneurs.
The property includes a vacant four-by-three-metre room out the back available for lease, with Clint and Sharna actively seeking a complementary small business to take up the space and grow alongside the revived laundromat.
