The Oxley Explorer strengthens regional connections with three new NSW TrainLink Services

The Oxley Explorer has strengthened its commitment to regional New South Wales following being awarded and the commencement of three new NSW TrainLink coach services on 1 July 2026, significantly improving transport connections between inland communities, the Mid North Coast and Australia’s eastern capital cities.
The family-owned and operated company has proudly served the New England and North West regions for more than two decades and continues a proud family tradition spanning over 50 years in the Australian bus and coach industry. Renowned for its commitment to safety, reliability and exceptional customer service, The Oxley Explorer has become one of regional New South Wales’ leading passenger transport providers.
Under the new NSW TrainLink contract, The Oxley Explorer now operates the following regional coach services which provide vital transport links for regional communities, creating seamless connections with the broader NSW TrainLink rail and coach network.
NSW TrainLink Service 327/328 (Tenterfield – Armidale): Connects with NSW TrainLink Xplorer rail services at Armidale, providing convenient connections to the NSW TrainLink Regional Train and Coach Network, enabling passengers to travel seamlessly throughout NSW and beyond.
NSW TrainLink Service 376/375 (Armidale – Port Macquarie): Creates a direct link between the New England and Mid North Coast. At Wauchope Railway Station, passengers can connect with NSW TrainLink XPT rail services travelling north to Brisbane and south to Sydney.
NSW TrainLink Service 313/314 (Walcha – Walcha Road): Connects with NSW TrainLink Xplorer rail services at Walcha Road Railway Station, enabling passengers to travel to and from Sydney, with connections across the regional rail and coach network.
Owners, Malcolm and Tammy Macpherson, said the services will deliver significant benefits for residents throughout the New England region, particularly those travelling from smaller communities who have not been able to access transport connections such as these before.
“These services provide convenient and reliable connections to Port Macquarie, Brisbane and Sydney, making it easier for regional communities to access employment, education, healthcare, family and tourism opportunities,” they said.
To support the new contract, The Oxley Explorer has invested in three brand-new coaches, purpose-built to meet the highest standards of passenger comfort, safety and accessibility.
Each vehicle is equipped with the latest active safety technology, audible hearing loop systems, internal destination announcements and stopping displays, onboard restroom facilities, and wheelchair lift capability, ensuring all passengers—including those with mobility challenges—can travel safely, comfortably and independently.
All services have been carefully coordinated with train arrivals and departures to minimise transfer times and provide passengers with a smooth, reliable and comfortable journey.
Whether travelling for business, education, medical appointments, visiting family and friends or enjoying a holiday, passengers now have greater access to an integrated public transport network connecting regional communities with major destinations across New South Wales and Queensland.
The award of these three NSW TrainLink services marks another significant milestone in The Oxley Explorer’s continued growth and long-term investment in regional passenger transport.
In addition to operating these vital inter-regional coach services, the company provides 18 Transport for NSW school bus services, comprising 10 services in Walcha, 6 in Guyra and 2 in Uralla and a charter fleet of over 10 vehicles.
