Halloween disco brings Guyra families together

03rd Nov 2026

A Halloween disco at the Guyra Bowling and Recreation Club has been hailed a wonderful success, bringing together local families for an evening of costumes, dancing and community fun.
Organised by Jo Cruickshank, Joanne Presnell and Megan Harris, the event was created to give local children more opportunities to enjoy Halloween celebrations together.
Jo Cruickshank, who runs the local community Halloween page, said she knew how much children enjoyed the annual tradition, but with only around five homes participating each year they wanted to do something different this year
After approaching the Guyra Bowling and Recreation Club, the idea of holding a community disco became a reality.
The organisers also approached local businesses for donations to make the evening extra special, with prizes adding to the excitement for children and families.
The event attracted children and adults from near and far, with plenty of imaginative Halloween costumes, dancing and laughter throughout the night.
The organisers thanked the Guyra Bowling and Recreation Club for providing the venue and generously donating prizes.
Local businesses also contributed, including Beechey Garage, Guyra IGA, Kimmy’s Kitchen, Khammo/Hammond’s Plumbing, Bishop’s Hardware and Why Knot Diner.
The organisers also thanked the Guyra Gazette for supporting the event through its advertising.
Jo said the turnout and enthusiasm made all the hard work worthwhile, particularly seeing children enjoying themselves and adults joining in the fun.
The organisers said the success of the evening demonstrated the value of community support and the importance of creating opportunities for local families to come together and make lasting memories.
