Students join 2025 National Walk Safely to School Day

St Marys students Anna, Miles, Vinnie, Peter, Lachlan, Lexi, Lane ready to walk to school
20th May 2025

Students from St Mary of the Angels Catholic School in Guyra laced up their sneakers and hit the footpaths on Friday as they participated in the 2025 National Walk Safely to School Day.
Beginning at the Guyra Recreation Grounds, students, along with staff members Mrs Nugent and Ms Lockwood, walked together to school in support of the nationwide initiative.
Now in its 26th year, Walk Safely to School Day encourages all primary school children to walk and commute safely to school, promoting a range of positive lifestyle and community messages.
The event highlights the importance of regular physical activity for children while also raising awareness about road safety, the benefits of using public transport, and caring for the environment.
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in healthy habits while fostering a sense of community. A big thank you to Mrs Nugent and Ms Lockwood for accompanying the students and supporting this important initiative.
