Vounteers share the load at Guyra HSS

Team Nicholli - Bea Velthuis, Steve Norris and Kim Shone
01st Jul 2025

Guyra HSS Nicholii House Team and the HSS Volunteer Transport Team were nominated in the Volunteer Team category for their work with Guyra Home Support Service at the recent New England Regional Volunteer Awards,
This team is an important part of running the Wednesday seniors’ group!
Steve Norris has a food handling certificate, and does the meal prep, serving the morning tea to our seniors and assisting with clean up, especially during monthly hot lunches. Steve also volunteers for meals on wheels.
Bea Velthuis is a ray of sunshine and goes on the bus as a support worker, attending to all the clients’ needs, as well as doing local transport and meals on wheels.
Kim Shone is the Nicholli House bus driver and not only drives the Nicholii Wednesday clients but also the Friday shopping bus.
All three volunteers are dedicated and passionate about assisting our Guyra seniors, to enable them to continue living independently in their homes and to get” out and about” socially as the majority live on their own.
Guyra Home Support Services (and the community!) rely on volunteers and would love to hear from anyone in the community who may be able to join this great team.
Anyone with an interest in volunteering, please reach out to Guyra Home Support Services!
