Thank You Guyra

25th Apr 2023

On behalf of the Guyra RSL sub-Branch, I thank the people of Guyra and district for their attendance and participation in the ANZAC Day services on Tuesday and particularly for their generous donations to support the work of the Guyra RSL sub-Branch in helping veterans and their families.
We particularly thank our Federal Member, Barnaby Joyce for his attendance at our service and for his Commemorative address.
It was wonderful to see the schools from our immediate region represented and I thank all the students, parents, and teachers for participating in the march and the service.
Thanks also to all those members of the community who, in different ways, contributed to the services to help make the day a success. As always it was wonderful to see our veterans participating in the march.
We extend a special thanks to the ladies from the Guyra CWA Evening Branch who kindly donated their time to prepare and present the dawn service breakfast.
Our thanks go to 1Sqn RAAF at Amberley for their continued association and contribution to the Guyra ANZAC Day services.
We had requested a flyover by an F/A 18F Super Hornet from 1 Sqn RAAF Amberley. Unfortunately, that did not occur due to an absolute snafu by the Joint Operations Support Staff at Defence. Our requests, along with requests from numerous sub-Branches in NSW, were not processed.
As always, we thank Geoff Thrift for his services in providing the PA system, and we thank the members of the VRA and the SES for their assistance.
Special thanks also to Keith Robinson for playing the bagpipes during our services.
A huge Thank You to the Guyra & Community Progress Association for the beautiful display of poppies on the fence of the Hall.
More than anything, I thank you all for coming together to remember and pay tribute to all the men and women who paid the supreme sacrifice in all conflicts throughout the world, while at the same time saluting the men and women currently serving in our armed forces and ancillary services both at home and abroad.
Hans Hietbrink
