Peter Presnell, Barry Presnell Dot Lockyer, Richard Post, Frank White and Helen Presnell
19th Oct 2021

The 114th Annual Guyra Show will be held on February 18 and 19, 2022. The Show committee is planning big things on the back of our 2021 success. In addition to all the usual attractions, plans are in place for another speed shear on the Friday night, an even bigger and better motocross stunt team performance on Saturday, whilst the search is on for a high profile celebrity.
At our recent AGM in July, Life Membership was awarded to Frank White, Barry Presnell, and Helen Presnell. They will be presented with their life membership formally at the 2022 show Opening.
Frank’s contribution to the show is nothing short of remarkable, having been President for three years, including for the Centenary Show in 2007, Head Steward of the cattle section for 11 years, running the bar for 6 years, whilst also holding the head Steward role for the home brewing competition! In addition, Frank remains heavily involved in the wool section, and his wife Pip and children have been volunteers or competitors. Franks’s father Graham is a past president and life member, whilst son Charlie is showing great promise toward a future President role!
A couple who need no introduction to regular show goers, Barry “Moose” Presnell and his wife Helen, have given decades of service to the Show Society, culminating in their Life Membership this year. In recent times Moose and Helen have been responsible for the very successful BBQ with their family. In previous years they have been involved with the canteen and the shearing section. Barry and Frank White shared a story recently recalling their involvement in the construction of the shearing pavilion in the 1970s, of which the timber was sourced from Eastern Plains.
Our showground is looking wonderful as ongoing projects to improve facilities remain a focus. The bar upgrade is almost complete, and funding has been secured to upgrade toilet and show facilities on both sides of the showground.
Would you like to be involved? We are always looking for volunteers and new members. Join us at our next meeting on Wednesday October 27 @ 7pm at the Guyra Showground where you will be made most welcome. You can call the show President Richard Post with any suggestions on 0404 454 143.
