The Big Chill Festival is back in 2023 with an incredible line-up of talent, food, and culture. Thanks to funding secured under the Australian Government’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program, this year’s festival promises to be a celebration of hope and resilience that will bring the community together like never before.
The festival is being held this weekend May 13 and 14 at the Armidale Sportsground. Headline acts are Birds of Tokyo and Dragon, along with Lisa Hunt, Tori Darke, Zac and George, The Tamborine Girls, Taylor B-W, Des Cortez and The Axmen.
The Big Chill Festival is also a true celebration of Armidale’s rich culture and culinary talent, with a range of local and regional food and drink vendors showcasing the very best the area has to offer. As an added bonus, the festival is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive environment for families.
Saturday night has been designated as a youth night, with a special youth ticket for ages 12+ with an admitting adult. This will give young people a chance to experience a food and music festival in a safe and supervised setting. On Sunday, the festival becomes a family affair with children under 12 admitted for free with a paying adult ticket.
Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce describes The Big Chill Festival as a transformational event that has become a highlight of Armidale’s event calendar. The Big Chill Festival is fast becoming a must attend event for the New England region and is a key driver of Armidale Regional Council’s broader strategy to activate the region and set it on a path of growth and prosperity.
Bring the kids, celebrate Mother’s Day, enjoy delicious food, dance and sing along to the music, and make memories that will last a lifetime!
