Magic Moment: Guyra Under 10s take centre stage

30th Jun 2026

The Guyra Junior Rugby League Under 10s tackle team were treated to a once in a lifetime opportunity over the weekend as the ran out onto Scully Park in Tamworth as part of the NSW Cup Magic round.
The lucky local squad was invited by the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) to play a special half-time exhibition match during the highly anticipated St George Dragons vs. Penrith Panthers clash.
For ten action-packed minutes, the young players got a taste of the big leagues, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and passion on the main arena. The excitement didn’t stop when the final siren blew, either. Following their match, the team had the opportunity to meet the NSW Cup players, collect autographs, and chat with their footy heroes.
The team’s coach Josephine Cruikshank said she was extremely grateful to the NSWRL for extending the invitation to the club.
“Opportunities like these inspire the next generation of rugby league players,” she said.
“We’re so grateful our kids got to experience it. It’s a day they’ll be talking about for a long time.”
The team returned home with jerseys full of fresh signatures, magic memories and inspiration for the rest of their season.
