2026 Australia Day Awards - all the winners
Guyra Young Citizen of the Year Fetcher Richardson with Australia Day Ambassador David Bitton

As well as Citizen of the Year, further awards were handed out at the Australia dinner, recognising individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the local community.
Two groups were recognised in the Guyra Environmental Citizen, Group or Organisation of the Year Award. The Guyra Rotary Club – Scout Hall Project. The renovation and upgrade of the Hall was the biggest single project ever undertaken by the Rotary Club of Guyra.
Guyra Pre-School and Long Daycare Centre welcomed Willow, the Australian leaf insect (Walaphyllium Monteithi) enriching the children’s understanding of their environment and importance of living sustainably.
Guyra’s Community Event of the Year was taken out by the Guyra Junior Rugby League’s Charity Day Fundraiser for VRA and Dolly’s Dream. The initiative led by GJRL was a heartfelt show of appreciation to the VRA and a commitment to raising awareness around anti-bullying through the Dolly’s Dream Foundation.
Also nominated in this category were ADRA’s Biggest Morning Tea and Guyra Show Society’s 2025 Guyra Show
Guyra Art, Drama Culture or Music Award went to the Guyra‘s Got Talent Fundraiser which was organised by Emma Vidler to raise funds for cancer research after her own family’s journey with cancer. Also nominated was the Guyra CWA Evening Branch Art Show.
Guyra Community Service Award was awarded to Guyra CWA Day Branch. For 93 years Guyra CWA Day Branch members have worked for a betterment of the Guyra Community, making them to oldest Service Club in Guyra. They have generously supported many local appeals such as the TB screening unit, Life Education Van, the Mammography Van, Guyra swimming pool, Kolora homes and local schools. They have also supported the State CWA projects and have lobbied Federal and State government on many contentious issues.
Also nominated was Burgess Garage Car Museum and Vu Nguyen from Guyra Pharmacy.
