Students and staff at Black Mountain Public School have enjoyed a lively and successful Term 3, filled with sport, learning, and community connection.
Relieving Principal Mrs Justine Eddy said the term had been full of positive energy and participation.
The school’s after-school activities program was again well supported, with tennis on Mondays, hockey on Tuesdays, and touch football on Wednesdays. Each session was delivered by qualified coaches from the PCYC in Armidale.
“All the sessions were delivered by qualified coaches,” Mrs Eddy said. “The program will return in Term 4, and students are already excited.”
On Friday, September 19, the school held its Final Assembly for Term 3 combined with NAIDOC Week celebrations. Students received Principal’s, Class, and NAIDOC Week Awards, and the K–2 students performed a song titled What I Am. Families enjoyed a barbeque lunch and morning tea to mark the occasion.
Throughout the term, the Back Track PAWS UP team and their dogs also visited, helping students build communication skills and resilience through hands-on activities.
“This program helps our students to develop their communication skills and resilience. Back Track’s dogs encourage reading engagement and wellbeing,” Mrs Eddy said.
“The students also had the opportunity to participate in some basic dog training and build on their understanding and friendship with the dogs.”
Mrs Eddy wished everyone a happy and restful break, with students returning on Tuesday, October 14th.
