The outreach event held in Guyra last week was an overwhelming success, handing out 115 vouchers totalling $57,500 to participants. Organised jointly by the National Recovery and Resilience Agency and Rotary Australia, the event brought together all levels of government, charities, not-for-profit and agricultural organisations to support farmers and rural and regional communities living through the immediate and longer-term effects of drought.
The Guyra event set the record for the highest number of vouchers handed out so far, from 98 similar events conducted nation wide.
Spokesperson for the Rotary Club of Guyra David Pearson said that it gratifying to see so many people from the community support the initiative.
“Our small community like so many others has been truly ravaged by drought, bushfires, mice, and Covid over recent years,” Mr Pearson said.
“Yes there has been recovery events before, but not such an incredible opportunity with so many key service providers available on hand willing and wanting to listen and assist.”
“There was a constant stream of community members and who were very appreciative for the day.”
