Guyra Central School celebrates Harmony Day, Leadership Induction, and Yarning Circle opening

31st Mar 2026

Guyra Central School marked Harmony Day on Tuesday, March 24th with a vibrant whole-school celebration highlighting diversity, inclusion, and community spirit.
The event began with an assembly where staff, students, and community members reflected on the importance of everyone belonging. The school also recognised its newest Secondary Leadership Team, with students receiving their leadership badges and participating in an official Leadership Induction. Relieving Principal Mr Tim Lloyd congratulated all 2026 student leaders, praising their commitment to representing and guiding their peers.
A major highlight of the day was the official opening of Guyra Central School’s Yarning Circle. This collaborative project, completed over several years, provides a special space for all members of the school and wider community to gather, share stories, and connect—honouring Aboriginal heritage, culture, and inclusivity.
The Harmony Day celebrations concluded with a well-attended community BBQ, where families, carers, and local residents were invited to join in and engage with staff and students.
Relieving Principal Mr Tim Lloyd said, “Harmony Day is about celebrating what makes our school and community strong - our diversity and our sense of belonging.
“The leadership induction and opening of the Yarning Circle are wonderful examples of how we support and value every member of our community.”
