Turning waste into business opportunity

A mobile solution to a common on-farm problem - a trailer mounted vaccuum

Times are tough in the bush, but opportunities are still available for people who are prepared to innovate. A common problem for graziers is the fallout from sheep under shearing sheds, which builds up and is often difficult to clear away.
Having visited lots of farms over the years and seen the problem first hand, Rod Merritt has come up with a new vacuum system that solves the problem. The portable vacuum system is mounted on a trailer and literally sucks all the fallout from under the shed and drops out on the paddock.
The system has already been tested on a number of local shearing sheds and feedback has been very positive. Rod says that his invention will clean out both the solid and loose product from under the shearing shed.
Once the fallout is cleared, an assessment can be made of the shed's foundations and repairs and restumping carried out if needed. Rod expects demand to increase due to people moving back into sheep once the drought breaks.
To see this system for yourself, it will be set up at the Guyra Show on February 21st and 22nd. For more information contact Rod on 0477 151 124,
