Take the plunge at Big Chill event

07th May 2024

Big Chill Festival goers will get a chance to chill right out with a cold-water plunge at Dumaresq Dam as part of the festival’s extended program of events.
The thrilling cold-water experience at Dumaresq Dam Reserve, a 15 minute drive from Armidale CBD, will be held on Sunday May 19 from 7:45am to 10am.
“The Big Chilly Dip is the perfect way for festival goers to refresh and revitalise on Sunday morning before the second day of the Big Chill Festival,” said Armidale Regional Council Mayor Sam Coupland.
“Participants can take part in the cold-water plunge, a quick swim or the Big Chilly Mile. It will be a really fun event that will bring our community together.
“This is just one of the many exciting events happening around the Big Chill Festival so make sure you get online and book your tickets to one of our region’s biggest music and social events.”
Participants must be aged 16+ years for the Big Chilly Dip and tickets include a free Big Chilly Dip beanie and bacon and egg roll to kick off your Sunday, provided by the Armidale Rams Rugby League Football Club.
Other events happening around the Big Chill Festival are the Great Hops Brewery BBQ Battalion Event with Live Music (4pm-late) and the Drag Show Event at the Town Hall (6pm-11pm) on Friday May 16.
The “chilly vibe” continues with the Beardy Street Bazaar-Buskers and Street Art Festival from 8:30-11am on Saturday morning. Local cafes will be offering delicious breakfasts and coffee in the mall.
And while the Big Chill finishes at 8:30-9pm there will be plenty to experience “after dark” at the Welder’s Dog, Great Hops, Royal Hotel, New England Hotel, Tattersalls Hotel, White Bull Hotel and St Kilda Hotel.
