Friday April 8, 2022 saw 250 bike riders, and those supporting the riders, roll into the famous Guyra Showgrounds after completing a gruelling 91 kms from Wollomombi for the day. The Showground became a welcome site and a tent city to house the teams, some 430 participants.
The Guyra Community had it all covered. From the Showgrounds so well maintained by John Credland, to the delicious, sweet treats generously provided by the clever cooks of the CWA Guyra Evening branch and others from the community, the smiling folks and kids serving the evening meal, and wood donated to keep the Guyra chill at bay.
To those on the 230 kms of Armidale Regional Council roads who came across the riders, thank you for your patience.
Tour de Rocks is an annual fund-raising event for cancer awareness, cure and prevention. $100,000 of the money raised goes towards funding two cancer research projects in Sydney.
Some of the remaining money raised, will go towards helping our own local community that is affected by cancer. In the past a few of the organisations that have benefited from Tour de Rocks funding, include Guyra Can Assist, Armidale Wig Library, Armidale Oncology Department, and the Coffs Harbour Radiology unit.
Sincerely and with an enormous thank you.
