World-Class Musicians to perform in Guyra

Music lovers will have the opportunity to experience an afternoon of world-class chamber music when internationally acclaimed musicians Robert Harris and Robert Manley perform Voice of the Viola at the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame in Guyra on Sunday, September 27th.
Presented in the intimate surroundings of the historic Australian Poetry Hall of Fame, the performance will explore four centuries of music for viola and piano, with works ranging from lyrical and reflective pieces to spirited and dramatic classics.
The program includes music by Rebecca Clarke, Debussy, Fauré, Rachmaninov, Schubert, Mahler and Vaughan Williams, along with the fiery Brahms Scherzo from the F-A-E Sonata and lighter selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein.
The concert will be presented in a relaxed and conversational style, with spoken introductions providing an insight into the music and composers.
Violist Robert Harris brings extensive international experience to the performance. He is a former Principal Viola with major professional orchestras in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe and the United States, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He is also well known in the New England region as the founding violist of the New England Ensemble at the University of New England.
Pianist Robert Manley is an accomplished academic, cellist and collaborative pianist at the New England Conservatorium of Music. He has performed with the Tasmanian, Queensland and Auckland Symphony Orchestras and brings extensive experience as a chamber musician and accompanist.
The one-hour concert will begin at 3.30pm, with doors opening at 3pm. Audience members can also enjoy afternoon tea at the Seahorse Medicine Café before the performance and experience the atmosphere of the historic hall.
With limited seating available at the intimate venue, advance bookings are recommended.
