The Guyra & District Car Club recently presented a $2000 donation to BackTrack following the success of their 2026 Show & Shine event.
The club holds regular outings for members who share a passion for older motor vehicles and motorcycles. On one of their outings members travelled to Armidale to visit the BackTrack organisation, which provides holistic youth support including education, accommodation, training, employment opportunities and the support of the BackTrack family to help young people get their lives back on track.
Car Club members were impressed by the encouragement and support the BackTrack staff provide to the young people involved, and said the group received a warm welcome from both staff and participants during their visit.
Members were given a guided tour of the BackTrack complex by staff and the young people themselves, and also had the chance to meet some of the organisation’s well-known working dogs.
Each year the Guyra & District Car Club plays a key role in the Guyra Lamb & Potato Festival, hosting their popular Show & Shine display in Bradley Street on the Saturday of the event. The display features a wide range of vehicles including vintage, modified and modern cars, as well as trucks and motorcycles.
This year’s event attracted more than 150 vehicles and continues to grow each year thanks to the support of local residents and enthusiasts from surrounding districts including Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell and Grafton.
Following the success of the 2026 event, club members decided to donate the proceeds of $2000 to BackTrack, recently travelling to Armidale to present the organisation with the contribution.
