Preparation is well under way for the 118th Guyra Show, to be held on 20th and 21st February, with new President Callan Schaefer taking over from Richard Post. The Guyra Show Committee welcomes fresh faces while also saying goodbye to several long-term supporters.
This year will mark the first time in 50 years that a Presnell will not be working at the show’s iconic barbecue. Frank and Mavis Presnell, along with Connie and Bob Newberry, Betty and Col Heagney, Fay and Barry Mayled, Barry Duddy, and Trevor Cook, were the original barbecue committee.
At the 2026 Show, the barbecue will be overseen by Julie and Lynda from the Guyra CWA Evening Branch, joined by Leonie, daughter of Connie and Bob Newberry. The team has added gluten-free options to the menu alongside all the traditional favourites. They are calling for volunteers to help for an hour or two on the barbecue and canteen.
Anyone interested can contact the team at GALA on 6779 2132 or by emailing yours details to admin@guyrashow.guyra.net.
There are also changes in the pavilion. Denise Ramage will take over as Head Steward of the Horticulture section from Kris Grills, while Robyn Angus becomes the new Head Steward of Jams and Preserves, succeeding long-term supporter Diane Burey.
The Guyra Show Committee is always seeking volunteers and new members to help make the event a success.
