Big win for Guyra Polocrosse at State titles

Guyra Polocrosse Club are the NSW Club Champions for the second year in a row

The Guyra Polocrosse Club are the 2024 NSW Club Champions following the State titles held at Coolah on the weekend.
It caps off what has already been a very successful year for the club. It is the second year that the club has won this prestigious title. Guyra fielded approximately 6 1/2 teams at the carnival with great results all round.
The sub juniors, B Grade Juniors, B mixed Open and A mixed Open all came home with a win after some nail biting finals. Guyra also had several individual prizes with members winning a Best Number award in their respective divisions to Ned Grills, Grace Schaefer, Will Schaefer, Em Wamsley, Steph Cochrane, Matt Grills and Bridget McKemey.
It was a great achievement for the club and its members, following on from their annual carnival which was held in April. The carnival was initially postponed due to wet weather, however went ahead over the weekend of April 27th and 28th.
Guyra hosted around 30 teams, and with the beautiful autumn weather the carnival was very well supported and proved a great success.
Following the carnival, eight members represented NSW at the annual Barastoc “State of Origin” held at Warwick. Matt Grills, Abbott and Carlie Grills, Tim, Abby and Zac Finlayson, Ella Elks, Emily Wamsley and Bridget McKemey attended with Abby, Bridget, Emily, Tim and Matt all part of a winning team. Tim also won a best player award in the under 26 competition.
Eight players from the Guyra Club have been chosen to represent NSW at the National Polocrosse Championships will be held in Chinchilla QLD in June.
Players from across Australia will travel to compete at this carnival. Guyra will be represented by Matt Grills, Abbott and Carlie Grills, Abby and Zac Finlayson, Emily Wamsley, Bridget McKemey and Hayden Benson.
In between, members have travelled to many carnivals within NSW and South East QLD and have brought home many awards and had a lot of fun along the way. With plenty of polocrosse still to attend for 2024 including the upcoming Nationals, the club wishes members all the best!
