Free community workshops to support disaster resilience and recovery

10th Jun 2025

As part of its Strengthening Rural and Regional Communities program, Armidale Regional Council is hosting free journaling workshops at venues around the region.
The ‘Words for Wellbeing’ journalling workshops aim to support good mental health and resilience. Facilitator Lucy Gallagher is a farmer and writer but also has experience as a counsellor and registered nurse in rural mental health.
The free interactive workshops will empower participants to develop a journalling habit that helps to strengthen skills in gratitude, empathy and forgiveness, and promote overall mental wellbeing.
While not a replacement for professional mental health services which are often difficult to access in rural and remote areas, these workshops offer tools and strategies that are simple, practical and accessible. They also offer opportunities for social connection in a supportive space.
Workshops will be held at locations around the region:
• 5 for 5.30pm, Wednesday 11 June @ Guyra Soldiers’ Memorial Hall
• 9 for 9.30am, Thursday 12 June @ Dangarsleigh Hall
• 9 for 9.30am, Friday 13 June @ Ebor Sportsgound
• 10 for 10.30am, Saturday 14 June @ Sauer Memorial Hall, Wollomombi
