Celebrating the Mother in us all

13th May 2025

On Wednesday May 7th, CWA Guyra Evening Branch, along with friends and family celebrated “The Mother in Us All” at Rafters Cafe and Restaurant. After a quick chat from our local councillor Armidale Regional Council Eli Imad sharing information on upcoming events and potential grant opportunities, a quick branch meeting, we then got onto the nights festivities.
What a lovely night we had! Our wonderful ‘Mary Poppins’ organised a gift for everyone, lucky door prizes and some great raffle prizes. Our clever member Cindy had her stall of amazing crochet items and the room was abuzz with chatter.
The Rafters team served delicious pumpkin soup and bread rolls and for dessert an array of delectable sweet treats to enjoy while we listened to our guest speakers.
Our President Kate gave us a rundown of the Central District Exhibit at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and also her wonderful achievements with her sauce entries including winning Champion Sauce/Pickle/Chutney with her Mint sauce!
One of our members Jo shared her wonderful recent experience as a “mother of the bride” and our very talented member Hannah gave us a run down on her business “Farmers Tan” a mobile spray tanning and brow specialist. Hannah runs this business when she isn’t nursing and keeps us all looking our best in these cooler months!
Our VP and ‘CWA Starr’ Anne, gave our guests a run through of what CWA does in the community and explained how we are more than scones and cups of tea. (Although who doesn’t love a good scone!)
Our main speaker for the night was our lovely member Stefania who shared her journey with motherhood, working, supporting her husband’s business, her woes with the sewing machine (they run an organic t-shirt business) and her resilience in working through setbacks.
Thank you to our members and guests and Rafters for hosting us. A wonderful night celebrating ‘The Mother in All of Us’ whether we are mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends or just really cool women!
