Premier’s Spelling Bee at Guyra Central

02nd Aug 2022

On Wednesday the 27th of July, K-6 participated in the Guyra Central School Premier’s Spelling Bee. The Premier’s Spelling Bee is a fun and educational way for primary school students to engage with and improve their spelling. The program includes activities that encourage students to become more confident users of language through broadening their vocabulary, and promotes improved literacy skills in conjunction with the NSW English K-10 syllabus.
Early Stage 1 commenced the Spelling Bee and did very well spelling words aloud at their first spelling bee. The Kindergarten Spelling Champion was Lachlan. Stage 1 students all had a go at spelling and there were four competitive rounds before Hugh Kliendienst became the Stage Champion.
Stage 2 students competed in the Spelling Bee next with several close rounds using the Junior wordlist. Laney Orfordhill was the Stage 2 Champion and will represent Guyra Central School at the Regional Final, which will be held online for 2022.
Stage 3 students were confident with the challenging words from the Senior List. Oakley Brazier was the Stage 3 Champion and will represent Guyra Central School at the Regional Final, which will be held online for 2022.
Premier’s Spelling Bee Coordinator 2022 Mrs Bronwyn Paull congratulated  all of the students who participated in the 2022 Premier’s Spelling Bee.
“It was great to hear so many primary students confidently spelling a range of challenging words in this year’s spelling competition,” Mrs Paull said.
