Guyra Central School visit AgQuip
Our AgQuip 2022 excursion was a huge success this year and 30 students from 7-11 attended from Guyra Central School. Two almost full buses transported students and staff to Gunnedah and a fun day was had by all.
Students were given instructions to visit different sites to collect information relating to their current learning programs in Agriculture. Students also spent time talking to and meeting people from many different industry enterprises and viewing the latest technologies that industry has to offer.
After four hours of exploring, students boarded the buses, tired but satisfied with our day. The bus was full of singing and laughter on the ride home and Mrs Smith is looking forward to seeing these students perform in the Snowball auditions which is just around the corner in Week 8!
Many thanks to the attending staff Mr Dave Richardson, Mr Angus Goodwin-Hill, Mr Jason Allwood and Mrs Rebecca Smith who enabled the excursion to go ahead and for assisting in supervising our wonderfully behaved students throughout the day.
Relay Team heading to Olympic Park
Guyra Central School recently attended the North West CHSSA Regional Athletics trial in Tamworth. Mrs Rebecca Lewis and Mrs Nadine Youman accompanied our qualifying secondary students to Tamworth to participate in a range of events on a very wet, cold day. Our attending secondary students are to be commended and congratulated for their efforts and achievements in the events they participated in.
Congratulations to our Relay Team (Riley Melmeth, Rave Brazier, Oscar Atkin and Archie Dowden) who sprinted their way to victory in the 4x100m 16-year-old Relay. The team has qualified to attend the CHSSA State Athletics Championships in September.
Additionally, Riley Melmeth will compete in Discus during the Championships after achieving 1st place at the Regional Carnival.
Thank you to all our staff involved in Athletics in 2022. A special mention to Mrs Rebecca Lewis, Mrs Nadine Youman and our attending students for enduring the wet weather and attending the North West Regional Athletics Trial in Tamworth.
