Guyra volunteers celebrated

ADRA Op Shop Volunteers
28th May 2024

The National Volunteer Week theme, “Something for Everyone,” was brought to life in the Armidale region last week.
The New England Regional Volunteer Awards, supported by Armidale Regional Council (ARC), saw quality nominations which were described as ‘outstanding’ by organisers.
All award recipients were celebrated with a morning tea at Council Chambers on Wednesday which was attended by various Council dignitaries.
Among the volunteers who were present with certificates by Deputy Mayor Todd Redwood were the Guyra Home Support Services (HSS) Nicholii House and Volunteer Transport teams who were nominated for their work in the Guyra community.
Volunteers were also celebrated at the ADRA OP Shop last week. They held a thank you morning tea for their volunteers. ADRA Coordinator Helen Turnham said that ‘volunteering can be very rewarding and productive when you believe in a cause’.
On average, ADRA volunteers contribute around 335 volunteer hours per month. The longest serving volunteer has been with the op shop for over 15 years and their newest volunteer is currently being signed up.
