Tropical Winter Song Launch

14th Jul 2020

Friday night the 17th of July the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame is hosting “Tropical Winter” a reggae, pop and island music night.
There will be a song launch from the Nivan Crew Guys, a collection of musicians from Vanuatu.
Nivan Crew Guys was formed out of a group of seasonal workers that love music and found a way to entertain themselves during social distancing. Their new song is titled, “68 Ollera Street Guyra”.
They have a unique island sound that has a pop-reggae feel and makes you want to move your feet. The night will begin with a community drumming circle at 6pm so bring your drums and have a beat. The night is a drug and alcohol-free all-ages family night as are all events at the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame.
Wednesday Words Open Mic Poetry night continues this week at 6:30pm. Saturday Guyra Farmers Market continues to grow in stallholders, variety and patronage becoming a social hub to enjoy our Saturday morning together yarning and listening to music.
Plus, Sunday the 19th from 3pm to 6pm is the second Guyra Songwriters Circle. All are welcome to come and participate or just listen.
Donations of poetry books from Guyra local poets, Myra Sweeny, Nan Grills, Sheila Sewell and David Bearup to our Australian Poetry Archive and Library are appreciated and welcome.
Drop in to sign up for Guyra Film Society which now has 10 members and if we reach 30 or 40 members we can reduce the cost of membership substantially, increase the frequency of movies and also hold an annual film festival.
