Specialised workshops for students who are 12-25 years of age will be delivered by the Australian Leadership and Communication Training organisation, thanks to a $46,500 State Government grant.
The workshops would be hosted by expert presenters in the field of education, health and wellbeing, resilience and psychology. The programs are designed to engage, inspire and create opportunities for youth in the area.
Australian Leadership and Communication Training is a local company that has been operating for the last 10 years providing training and development in education including resilience, well-being, communications, and leadership.
Executive Director of Australian Leadership and Communication Training Dr James White said the funding would help meet the needs of young people in our community who are often overlooked.
“Our recent event included young people who are in out of home care, members of our Ezidi community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and people with disabilities,” Dr White said.
“Many youth identified the importance of addressing and supporting each other within areas of mental health and wellbeing.
“It is pleasing to be able to offer opportunities in the Armidale Regional Council area.
“We are excited about extending the program to the Uralla and Inverell LGAs in the future.”
Announcing the grant, Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said that the resilience of children and young people has been tested over the past few years by drought, bushfires, floods and COVID-19.
“This grant, under the Children and Young People Wellbeing Recovery Initiative, will help youngsters build resilience and bounce back from challenging times,” Mr Marshall said.
“Well done to Jane Weir and Dr James White for continuing to provide training and support for our youth by developing a broad network of support people.”
