GuyrARTists were very happy with the number and quality of entries in this year’s annual art competition held during TroutFest. The show drew compliments from regular exhibitors and judges.
CWA Day Branch added interest and colour as did Neil Donnelly’s pre-loved art and art book collection.
Local winners were Carmella Archer (1st in the junior photography), Zander Lloyd (2nd in the junior photography), Wal Chapman equal 1st and Jenny Rogers 2nd in photography, Jessira Saunders 1st in Acrylics/Oils, Sapphire Roller 1st and 2nd in Collage, Louise Pearson 1st and 2nd in both weaving and felt. Kay Smith won the viewer’s choice prize. April Mills Thom was second in the Novice section.
Other winners came from across New England from Glen Innes, Armidale and Inverell.
Thank you to our very generous prize sponsors: Guyra Bowling Club, Gawura Gallery Glen Innes, The Organic T Shirt, Sue Ross and Ray White Real Estate Agents, Guyra Pharmacy, Craig and Pen Shepard (Kootingal) and Our Little Gallery.
At the prize presentations on Friday the originators and long-time supporters of TroutFest were acknowledged as was the development of the Tenth Dam with Council and Anglers assistance as a special acknowledgement to trout fishing around Guyra. David Bearup and Laurel Betts cut a cake of thanks to supporters and Guyra artists.
The TroutFest themed art work created by the children on Saturday under Lloyd Hornsby direction was a huge success, with more than 25 children participating. We will be looking for a permanent place to display this tribute to TroutFest.
