Guyra welcomes youngest Rotary member

The Rotary Club of Guyra has welcomed its newest and youngest member, 18-year-old Eli Wood.
Eli was formally inducted into the Club by President Wendy Mulligan. Youth Services Director Railene Turner-Rose served as his sponsor and presented him with his Rotary badge.
Eli’s association with Rotary began earlier this year when the Guyra Club sponsored him to attend the prestigious National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Canberra. NYSF is a program that recognises Australia’s most promising young scientific minds.
In July, Eli was awarded Best Speaker (Legislative Assembly) at the 2026 NSW Youth Parliament, representing the Northern Tablelands. The award is one of the program’s most prestigious individual honours, recognising excellence in parliamentary debate, leadership, public speaking, and parliamentary procedure.
Eli has spoken openly about his ambition to one day serve the people of New South Wales in public office, and his commitment to integrity, respect, and community contribution.
Club President Wendy Mulligan said the Club was proud to welcome Eli into its fellowship.
“Eli is a remarkable young man with genuine capability and a real commitment to service,” Wendy said.
“We’re delighted to have him with us and look forward to supporting his continued development.”
Rotary Street Stall
The Rotary Club of Guyra will be holding its Street Stall on Thursday September 3, Friday September 4 and Saturday September 5, on Bradley Street near the IGA.
Drop by, say hello, and support the Club’s fundraising efforts. Raffle tickets are $1, with a $100 fuel voucher up for grabs.
