Ben Lomond Public School to go into recess in 2025

18th Nov 2025

One hundred and forty years after opening, 2025 may well be the last time children enter the doors of Ben Lomond Public School.
A spokesperson for the NSW Education Department confirmed last week that Ben Lomond Public School will go into recess at the end of Term 4 2025.
It follows extensive consultation with parents, carers and the local community.
“The consultation forecast a potential enrolment of only two students early in 2026,” the spokesperson said.
“A decision to permanentlyclose the school has not been made, and consultation with the local community about possible future enrolments will continue.”
The school is working with students and parents to arrange transition to their chosen school in 2026. Permanent staff will be redeployed after the school goes into recess.
