Community invited to welcome new Presbyterian Minister

The Guyra and Glen Innes Presbyterian communities are inviting local residents to a special combined church service on Sunday, August 9th, to formally welcome Reverend Paul Seiler as the new part-time minister for the two congregations.
Reverend Seiler and his wife, Carol, have been warmly welcomed by both church communities since moving to the New England from Brisbane earlier this year.
While officially retired from full-time ministry, the couple felt they still had more to offer and have embraced the opportunity to serve the region.
The special service will be held at 2pm at St Columba’s Presbyterian Church, Tenterden Street, Guyra. It replaces the usual 10am Guyra service for that Sunday only.
The service will include Reverend Peter Barber, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church from Inverell, who will formally induct and commission Reverend Seiler into his new role. Members of the wider community are warmly invited to attend, meet Paul and Carol, and stay for afternoon tea afterwards in McKie Hall.
Born in London in 1950, Reverend Seiler migrated to Australia with his family in 1964, settling in Melbourne. He joined the Australian Army in 1972 as an apprentice radar technician before answering a call to Christian ministry.
Over the past five decades, he has served Presbyterian congregations across Australia, including Brisbane, Robina, Wangaratta, Ayr in north Queensland, and several country communities. He also has fond memories of ministering in Trundle, Tullamore and Tottenham in central New South Wales.
After retiring from full-time ministry in 2020, Reverend Seiler continued serving churches in a part-time capacity.
“I am very pleased to have been asked to take a two-year part-time ministry in Guyra and Glen Innes,” he said.
“I have discovered that both these places are very friendly. I thank God for the privilege of serving Him in these country towns.”
The combined service offers an opportunity for both congregations and the wider community to officially welcome Reverend Seiler and Carol as they begin this new chapter of ministry in the New England.
